Free Speech Card

Let me start by saying I do not wish to state my Political Party, you may conclude for your self.  Republican, Democrat or I play both sides of the fence?

Our Presidents, President Obama, birth certificate was released to the public yesterday.. to prove in fact he is a U.S. Citizen.  People are still not happy about this and are finding more reasons and other areas to dig into his past now.  His educational past.  I, as a middle class American, am asking why?  Why in the world are we so concerned with THIS?  There is so much going on right now.  One of the people that were so on top of getting this birth certificate is from TX.. We have enough going on here on the home front, don't we?  The education crisis?  And as for the rest of the politicians... I, as an American Citizen, would like to start seeing a little bit more teamwork that we try to instill in our children and a little less finger pointing about what has gone wrong with this country.  There may be two separate parties but this is still "One Country Under God" if I remember correctly.  What happened to the "Home of the Brave and the Land of the Free"?  I am a very very proud Texan Wife and Mother who wants nothing more than to see her country come together... but this will not happen if all we are doing is disrespecting our fellow politicians, presidents, past presidents and neighbors.

How about we start working on the issues that matter?  The Education Crisis.  The fact that it is so hard to get food stamps (or any kind of government assistance) for the Single Mom/Dad, but we see people with a Coach purse, an I Phone and/OR about 3K worth of Tats get it.  Gas is almost up to $4 a gallon.. is it almost worth going to work anymore and paying for childcare and gas prices?  We have thousands upon thousands of homeless people on our homeland, yet we as a country are more eager to help those in foreign countries first.  Those are just a few issues off hand..

Here is another that was mentioned by a good friend: "The top 1% continue to get wealthier and wealthier and get massive tax breaks since the governments keep hoping for "Economic trickle" (which never happens).. meanwhile the middle class is getting closer and closer to lower."

Isn't this the beauty of living in this great country that we live in?  To have the power of free speech?  But, I am willing to bet one thing.. your just as tired of the bologna finger pointing as I am.  Tired of hearing the same "I am here for Public Education" speeches.  Tired of hearing the same "I am here for you and all of your health care needs".  I want to start SEEING it.  I will start paying more attention to who is on the School and City Boards.  I want to know more about my State Representatives.  I want to learn about all the candidate running for Presidency each term.  Not about what state or country they were born in or what fancy school they may or may not have gotten into, but about what they have done for the U.S. already.  Their achievements thus far.  Whoever it is that is up for election, I will have a voice and vote.  It's what we fought for.  It's what I will do.

So, to the ones that were voted into office to do a job, we are watching you.  The young voices of America are now watching you.  We will be heard.  They will be heard.  Believe it or not... THEY are the future.

Well, that's all I really have to say about that.
We may agree to disagree, but that is the beauty of it all.

Four Year Old Boy!

So, I was thrilled to find out when Kasen was a BOY!  No bows, barbies, barbie shoes to step on and most of all no tangled hair to have to brush through!  Instead we get cars to slide on, army men through the feet and thick hair he gets from Mom to keep up with.  Not only that, but he has all the habits of a little boy.  You know what I mean.. Jumps on anything that has a bounce to it as soon as I'm not looking, runs around the house naked when he gets the chance and any noise his body makes, must be announced (Does this stop with age by the way??).  My favorite?.. every night the boy thinks I must smell his feet!  Why, oh why, would I want to smell a four year olds foot after he has been playing all day.  This temps me to want a girl!  I must stand strong!

I do have to say though, I could not wait for this age.  Danny and I are having a blast with him.  He has started T Ball, and that has been a venture all in it's own.  He is down and ready one minute and the next a nice airplane thousands of miles in the sky has his attention, it is a true hoot to watch!  He has a personality all of his own.  He helps around the house in setting the table, wiping the table, you know little things like that.  At this age he can also get himself dressed and undressed.. which I'm sure some of you know is not always a good thing.  We had these Red Fireman Rain Boots that lasted us about a year.. well he wore those things YEAR round... Thanks, Grammy!  Made for some good photos.

One more thing.. We have been teaching Kasen to say "Yes Ma'am" and "Yes Sir" and I am so glad we are because when I call for him, and he comes out saying "Yes Ma'am", that just feels like a whole other level of respect.  I truly wish I would have said that more to my parents growing up.  Just my 2 cents on that.

All in all, Kasen is a good kid.

4 is a FUN age!!

Little Piece of Mail

How powerful one piece of mail can be, and in many different ways!

I got home yesterday in a rush to get Kasen ready for his TBall game, as usual on the weeknights.  I see an envelope that say's "Danny, Ashley & Kasen" on the Bed, asked Danny what it was, he said "No wait.. look at what it came in."  So I take the outer, addressed one from him, as I'm rushing around, and take a seat on the bed for a second to see what it says... There it is on the front, our first piece of mail as husband and wife, addressed to "Mr. and Mrs. Martinez".  WOW.  Time didn't matter for a second.  Not realizing what the mail may even be, it took me a second to wrap my finger around that one.  Realizing we only had x amount of time to get ready I opened the actual piece of mail now...

There it was, my cousins College Graduation Announcement.  Getting her Bachelors degree at the end of May.  I played kitchen, school, hockey, trampoline football, tackle football, kickball, played in the mud at Grannybobs, had countless sleepovers, played video games, she came with us to Padre every year and stood at the alter with me as I was getting married.... She is a role model to so so many including me.  She went to college on a basketball scholarship and rocket it!  She has made so many proud, and always stayed true to herself, her family and friends.  Her relationship with the Lord stands stronger and stronger each and every day and it is very apparent just in her actions alone.  I can write all this about her and she wont get a big head, haha, she has had many newspaper stories, because that is just who she is!  So, you know who you are, We are proud of you!  Cant wait to see you walk across that stage and get what you have worked so hard for and earned.  We love you!!!
